Mikael Carlsson's passion in life is music. In November, 2005, he launched the company MovieScore Media, where he works as a composer, record producer, music journalist and concert consultant.
As a composer, Mikael's most recent love is writing choral music. Among his a cappella works are Winter Scene at Evening, Nocturne and Rise Up, My Love. His most recent composition is a setting of the famous O Magnum Mysterium. Mikael is also a member of two chamber choirs, Guldhedskyrkans kammarkör and Haga motettkör. The main bulk of his output as a composer, however, has been music for film and television. Among his credits are the theme and score music for reality series Top Model Scandinavia and Carl-Jans Änglar. He has also scored a number of shorts, including Steve Ericsson's Vilse. Stylistically, Mikael enjoys particularly to write orchestral music and the majority of the compositions on this web site have been conceived using the latest orchestral sample librarires. Cinephonix Ltd. represents Mikael in the UK.
The main business of MovieScore Media is its soundtrack label. Since the launch of the label in January 2006, Mikael has produced over 30 score albums, primarily focusing on high quality film music by young, up and coming composers. Among the albums produced by Mikael are An American Haunting (Caine Davidson), Evil (Francis Shaw), Dear Wendy (Benjamin Wallfisch), Skinwalkers (Andrew Lockington), Half Light (Brett Rosenberg) and The Dark (Edmund Butt). In 2007, MovieScore Media launched its new online music shop, Film Music Downloads, where the goal is to present a wide selection of film music from independent composers as well as other soundtrack labels.
